What is the deadline to register to vote in order to be able to participate in the caucus? Can an independent voter declare a party the night of the caucus and participate? Any related information would be appreciated. Thanks!

You can register as late as that night at the caucus, but in the interest of getting checked in faster, we highly recommend registering ahead of time with the Polk County Auditor by mailing in the form from his website or by calling 515-286-3247 to have a form sent to you.

Yes, an independent can switch party that night, also by filling out a new voter registration form at the time of check-in, but again we recommend this is done ahead of time when possible.

Please click on the link below.  It will take you to the 2006 Platform as submitted by the County Convention Platform Committee to be reviewed and voted on at the County Convention March 4th at Valley High School.

All these items were submitted and passed at the precinct level during caucuses and have now made it out of Committee to go on to the convention.  If you have any questions or problems with this link, please let me know.
